Department Overview:
The Economic Development Department focuses on the attraction and retention of businesses and providing extra resources for the business community. Economic Development assists businesses in their effort to create and sustain balance in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors of the city. This is accomplished through job creation, marketing, and site location fulfillment.
The Economic Development Department is also responsible for the winding down of the former redevelopment agency (now Successor Agency) and the former redevelopment agency housing (now City Housing Successor) obligations. This includes the sale and development of former redevelopment agency housing property holdings to provide additional affordable housing and improve the quality of life in our community.

- Continue business attraction efforts, including marketing the City for new retail and industrial development
- Continue wind-down of redevelopment agency including the disposition of land pursuant to the approved Long Range Property Management Plan (LRPMP) requirements
- Continue to assist the City’s airport, water, and municipal utilities enterprise to grow their customer bases
- Assisting City departments with the sale or acquisition of properties
