Property Taxes
Property taxes are assessed against property in the City. The tax rate in Ukiah generally is 1%; although rates in areas of other taxing entities may affect that.
The City is not the only entity that collects property tax on property assessed in the City. Here we see where else sales taxes go. The amount above pertains only to a component of secured property tax to the City's general fund. For illustration of the other types of property taxes collected see below.
Property taxes over the last decade have steadily increased following the effects of property values suffered during the Great Recession of 2008. Property taxes are expected to continue increasing over the next several years accelerated by the effects of Prop 8 adjustments, effectively returning assessed values to Prop 13 limits.
