ARPA City-Managed Projects

Relief for Families, Essential and Frontline Workers, and Small Businesses

The City is allocating a total $1.90 million to relief to essential and frontline workers, families, and small local businesses. There are three relief and support subcategories.

Small Business Association (SBA) Grant Program Support

Funds address the three fundamental needs -- access to capital, financial health, and leadership development – of small business owners and entrepreneurs, underserved, legacy, minority groups, those serving Spanish-speaking neighborhoods, and businesses impacted by COVID (travel, tourism, hospitality, food service). Support services available on-site or virtually. Includes Sazon Empresarial, a specialized training program for culinary/food entrepreneurs.

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy

Funds drive an inclusive stakeholder and public engagement across demographics and socio-economic groups to develop a realistic strategy to tackle equity and access issues compounded by the pandemic.

Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Building Rent Subsidy

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic several entities that are tenants of FTA buildings managed by the City of Tucson Transportation & Mobility Department fell behind on making rent payments. This fund offers rent subsidies to qualified nonprofits and business, avoiding eviction and potential job loss.
