PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In response to the rising demand for lifelong learning, creative arts, social activities, and wellness programs among Tallahassee’s expanding 50+ population, the City is constructing a second Senior Center in the vibrant Canopy development. This new facility will provide a dedicated space for enrichment, connection, and well-being. The 40,000 square foot building will provide opportunities to host various programs, including a Gymnasium for Pickleball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, and Fitness classes. A large multi-purpose room and café/lobby area will host conferences, workshops, and concerts. This complete multi-service Senior Center will be a safe and comfortable gathering space for seniors to stay physically, mentally, and socially healthy and connect with friends and important services. Construction began in summer 2024 with foundational components nearing completion. The City’s Department of Building Construction is responsible for project management and oversight.
