Summary of Services

StarMetro, the public transit service for the City of Tallahassee, operates 14-weekday cross-town routes and eight university routes for Florida State University (FSU) and student ridership programs for Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), Tallahassee Community College (TCC), and K-12 students in Leon County.

Fixed Route and Paratransit operations provide accessible, equitable, and efficient transit services to citizens of Tallahassee, visitors, and commuters. Transit services are provided 363 days a year and assist in emergencies as needed.

StarMetro has six divisions through which it accomplishes its mission: Administration, Planning, General Transit Operations, Community Transportation, Garage Facilities, and Special Transportation.

The Administration Division manages all employees and monitors the operating and capital budget. This division handles budget preparation, internal and external audits, and fare collection for the transit system.

The Planning Division provides policy, service development, grant management, and customer outreach. This division has four full-time employees and one or more internship positions. Planning, along with the help of the General Transit Operations Division, continuously reviews and recommends scheduling and route changes as the City develops. The division promotes and develops programs to increase transit revenue and ridership, such as an All-Access Bus Pass program, marketing campaigns, and service contracts.

The General Transit Operations Division provides services for StarMetro's 14 fixed routes for 363 days per year. The majority of Coach Operators are included in this division.

The Community Transportation Division administers the Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC) program. The CTC is responsible for coordinating all transportation services for the transportation-disadvantaged population of Leon County. Services are coordinated for developmentally disabled persons under the Agency for Persons with Disabilities Medicaid Waiver and those who are transportationally disadvantaged.

The Garage Facilities Division performs cleaning and maintenance of StarMetro facilities.

The Special Transportation division provides complimentary paratransit services to disabled persons in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Dial-A-Ride program brings this service to Tallahassee and Leon County.

In FY24, StarMetro will continue providing outstanding community transit services.
