PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Fleet is responsible for all vehicle and heavy equipment acquisition, disposal, maintenance, and repair. The Vehicle Replacement Program (“Program”) was implemented to provide the funding necessary for the new purchase/replacement of vehicle and heavy equipment for the City of Tallahassee. The funding for this Program is derived from the Fleet reserve which is replenished annually through a combination of fund interest earnings and monthly charges allocated within the operating budgets of our user departments through a project that is created each year. To ensure flexibility in handling unexpected situations, a ten percent contingency is allocated. This contingency allocation serves as a safety net, allowing the program to address unanticipated needs as they arise. This Program is not a one-time effort but a recurring, ongoing initiative. Any appropriations that remain unused or unallocated by the end of the fiscal year are not rolled over into the next year but are instead returned to the Program.
