The Residential MCC focuses on measuring residents’ living costs against other cities. The taxes and services included in the comparison are:  

• Property Tax  

• Water  

• Sewer  

• Electric   

• Solid Waste  

• Stormwater  

• Fire Protection  

Calculating the comparison utilizes typical home values, average usage rates for electric consumption, a set consumption or usage level per household for other utilities, and the annual stormwater and fire fees cost. Staff selected comparison cities by their similarity to Tallahassee regarding the mix of services provided, population, percent of taxable value, and other factors to ensure we make relevant comparisons.
