Summary of Services
Technology and Innovation (T&I) is responsible for developing and delivering technology, telecommunications, IT infrastructure, computer services, radio services, project IT management, cybersecurity, and GIS support for all city departments. The goal is to make the City a leader in innovation while effectively managing the City of Tallahassee's technology resources. Revenues are generated through the distribution of costs to user departments.
Enterprise Infrastructure Division
The Enterprise Infrastructure Division (EID) offers technology services and support to all divisions of the City of Tallahassee for their infrastructural needs. This includes the support of the city network, hardware devices, server technology and telephone support.
Business Engagement and Professional Services
The Business Engagement and Professional Services Division comprises of the Project Management Office (PMO), Public Safety and Utility Support for T&I. They are responsible for information technology projects, servers, software applications, mobile devices, body-worn cameras, the 800 MHz Radio System, peripherals, and new technology for the Tallahassee Police Department, Tallahassee Fire Department, and the Consolidated Dispatch Agency (CDA). They also provide onsite T&I support to the City Utilities offices and project management services to citywide departments.
Office of the CIO
The Office of the CIO (OCIO) is a team reporting to the CIO. It consists of three sections: Portfolio Management, Vendor Management and HR Resource Support. The key objectives of the OCIO are to ensure fiscal responsibility or resources, promote a consistent and strategic approach to applying information and technology (I&T) across the enterprise and to provide an efficient way for the IT organization to deliver value and service to the business.
The core of the OCIO is its ability to handle strategy, planning, governance, I&T operating model, and performance management. The OCIO may also include other essential functions, such as portfolio management, knowledge management, financial management, departmental strategic supplier management, and workforce management.
Innovation Division
The Innovation Division explores new opportunities and develops proof-of-value solutions to position the City as a leader in technology. There is a growing use of advanced data analytics in government and utilities offers various options to provide real-time insights to managers, develop new customer engagement solutions, and automate processes to replace outdated, manual methods.
Software Services Division
The Software Services Division (SSD) provides enhancements, upgrades, support, and maintenance for computer software and databases used by all departments throughout the City. SSD supports and maintains software packages, databases, and SharePoint sites. The division aims to deliver comprehensive software support while ensuring all departments have the best technology to operate effectively.
Information Security
The Information Security Division (ISD) safeguards IT infrastructure, edge devices, networks, and data. Specifically, they are responsible for preventing data breaches and monitoring and responding to cyber attacks.
T&I is an Internal Service Fund and is fully allocated through City Department operating budgets.
FY26
In FY26, Technology and Innovations will continue to provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers. There are no significant changes expected in the budget for FY27.
