FY2023-24 Adopted Budget

Department Purpose:

Economic Vitality Department will continue to carry out a similar role as Economic Development did in prior years and will be the primary department for professional, technical and management responsibilities, activities, and initiatives related to economic development. Economic Vitality’s primary objectives will be to encourage reinvestment and quality economic growth, coordinate significant development projects that impact the community’s tax base, retain and facilitate expansion of existing businesses, promote entrepreneurship, and attract new businesses by fostering a positive business environment and to work closely with the City’s quality of place initiatives and regional economic development partners to leverage resources and enable the City to be attractive to quality business investment.

The Mission therefore is to Strengthen existing businesses; Foster and support entrepreneurship; Secure new investments that attract great talent; And collaborate to create great places.


FY 2023-24 Budget Highlights:

Added a .5 GIS Specialist position, split with the Planning Department and $3,750 of one-time funding in operating supplies and services for office equipment.


Added $40,000 of on-going funding and $51,800 of one-time funding in operating supplies and services for strategic planning resource software, targeted recruitment and attraction efforts, economic development initiative and site readiness, and professional development training.


Added $8,655 of on-going funding in operating supplies and services for consumer price index adjustment.
