Mayor and Council (General Fund)

Department Purpose:

Springfield City government is based on the Council/Manager system. By Charter, the City has eight Council members who are each elected for a four-year term on a non-partisan basis, and a Mayor who is elected for a two-year term. The presiding officer at Council meetings is the Mayor.

Department Mission:

The people of our community are the only reason we are here. Therefore, we are committed to working with the community to provide ethical and responsible local government so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of living and working in Springfield.
