Workforce Development (Grant Fund)
FY2023-24 Adopted Budget
Department Purpose:
Funding for the Department of Workforce Development’s activities is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor in support of various job training programs. Funding for the Missouri Work Assistance Program is provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Missouri Career Center, Ozark Region, coordinates resources to prepare today’s workers for tomorrow’s workplace.
Department Mission:
Facilitate, advocate and allocate resources for workforce solutions resulting in employer engagement and improved quality of life in the region.
FY 2023-24 Budget Highlights:
Applications for additional funding sources will continue to increase in an effort to compensate for projected Federal and State decreases in formula fund allocations.
Further development of customized training opportunities is planned for employers as well as customers in the manufacturing, stainless steel, construction, transportation, healthcare, and information technology fields.
Continue to improve regional partner and employer partnerships according to the strategic plan and WIOA legislation through One-Stop-Operator functions and open dialogue with employers at industry roundtables, forums, townhall meetings and summits.
Increase representation at community events, conferences, learning capacity building events and have Board representation at State and National forums.
Six positions were brought to City Council during FY2023 for the American Rescue Plan Good Jobs Challenge grant award of $17.5 million. No additional FTEs are requested as part of the budget process.
