Department Purpose:

The Department of Human Resources of the City of Springfield provides a variety of support services to other departments in the areas of Employment & Classification; Benefits; Compensation; Payroll, HRIS & Compliance; Training & Development; Employee Relations; Labor Relations; and Administration.

Department Mission:

The Human Resources Department will inclusively select, develop and equip City employees to serve and build our community.

FY 2023-24 Budget Highlights:

Added $90,925 of on-going funding in operating supplies and services for Human Resources data management software platform expansion.


Added $47,500 of on-going funding in supplies and services for recruitment and retention efforts for the employee referral program, diversity internship program, and City supervisor training.


Added $24,232 of on-going funding in supplies and services for liability insurance and consumer price index adjustment.
