Supplemental Appropriations

City of Somerville FY21 Budget

Supplemental appropriations to the adopted budget may be made with the approval of the Mayor and the City Council until such time the City files the Tax Rate Recapitulation Sheet with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. These appropriations are listed below separately from the departmental budgets.

Listing and Descriptions of Appropriations

Executive Administration - Charter Reform Study $100,000

This appropriation was made to the Executive Administration's Special Items budget for the purpose of contracting with a technical expert to advise on charter reform.


Executive Administration - Charter Reform Staff $24,000

This appropriation was made to the Executive administration's Personal Services budget for the purpose of hiring a part-time staff member to manage the charter reform study effort.


Libraries - Library Materials $11,907

This appropriation was made to the Libraries' Ordinary Maintenance budget for the purpose of meeting the FY21 municipal appropriation requirement as outlined by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, to avoid applying for a waiver to receive State Aid funding.


Transfer to School Hot Lunch Revolving Fund $600,000

This appropriation was made to the Schol Lunch Revolving Fund for the purpose of funding a projected deficit in the fund for FY21 due a lack of revenue from the program during the COVID-19 pandemic.


Subsidy to Enterprise Funds $259,492

This appropriation was made to the Veteran's Ice Rink Enterprise Fund to balance the FY21 budget due to adverse impacts to revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic.


City Clerk - Software $10,704

This appropriation was made to the City Clerk's Ordinary Maintenance budget for the purpose of funding the creation of a domestic partner database as well as aligning the existing MinuteTraq contract with other related contracts.
