City of Somerville FY21 Budget

Mission Statement

The City Council is the City’s legislative branch. Members are elected every two years. Four members serve at-large and seven members represent individual wards. The Council passes ordinances on a range of issues, from setting zoning laws to creating boards and commissions. It also has the power to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s budget appropriations.

Changes from FY20

The FY21 City Council budget includes $250,000 in Professional & Technical Services in order to engage the community in discussions regarding a civilian review commission and compete anti-bias training for staff.

A cut of $1,199 was made to the In State Conferences line during the FY21 budget review.
