The City of Sherwood is committed to responsible budgeting and financial transparency.
Sherwood has partnered with OpenGov to provide our residents, businesses and other stakeholders with this Financial Transparency Portal. It is designed to bring visibility, openness and accountability to our Municipal operations.

THE GENERAL FUND
The City’s General Fund is the primary operating fund for the City of Sherwood. In this fund, the City budgets for several departments including administration, police services, community development, community services and a portion of public works.
Where does the money come from?
Revenues for the General Fund largely consist of property taxes as well as franchise fees from utility companies, charges for services like cell tower leases and facility rentals, licenses and permits such as building permits and business licenses, alarm permits and traffic fines.

General Fund revenues are mainly unrestricted in use, which means that they can be used for a wide variety of City operations. Personal Services (staff costs) accounts for the majority of the expenses along with materials and services and capital expenses of vehicles, equipment and furniture.
