Seed Swap & Seed Library Kickoff
More than 100 members of the community attended the St. Charles Public Library’s Annual Seed Swap and Seed Library Kickoff on Saturday, February 18.
The library offers over 200 different heirloom seed varieties, free of charge, to grow and enjoy. Master Gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension were on hand to answer any gardening-related questions.
All of the seeds available are heirloom or open-pollinated, meaning that once saved and planted again, they will grow into the same type of plant.
The St. Charles Library is one of the first public libraries in Illinois to lend heirloom seeds.
