New Materials, Purchase Requests, and More!

We provide materials for patrons as fast as we can!

If an item fits our collection guidelines, we will order items for patrons based upon requests. This month, 109 items were ordered to fill patron requests! Also, 1,210 total items were ordered in January. 23 items were ordered as part of our Patron Driven Acquisitions program.

Book Club Service & Interlibrary Loan

Our Book Club Service makes it easy to select titles and run book club discussions. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. You provide the Book Club – we’ll do the rest! Click HERE for more information about our Book Club Service!

We provided 542 items for 53 community book clubs this month.

Interlibrary Loan is the ability to get our patrons materials that are not available at our library or within the SWAN consortium. This month, we received the following items for patrons:

  • 97 items were borrowed for our patrons
  • 29 items were lent to libraries around the country

This month, Youth Services issued 10 museum passes.

Nellie Bly: Around the World in 72 Days

Debra Miller delighted our patrons with an informative program on Nellie Bly, who became famous for her exposé of the New York City Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island.

In 1889, she began a solo trip around the world inspired by the fictional character Phileas Fogg from the 1873 Jules Verne novel Around the World in Eighty Days.

Adult Outreach Programs

This month, the Adult Outreach team delivered 678 non-circulating and 945 circulating items to patrons and facilities in our community. Also, 15 circulating items were mailed out.

Young Adult Outreach Programs

Youth Outreach Programs

This month, Youth Services selected 121 items to support classrooms for 8 teacher in the St. Charles community. Teachers in our area can request library materials and learn more about our teacher outreach HERE.

LEGO Fun for Big & Littles

Parents attending the program commented how much they enjoyed having a place to hang out with other families and having a screen-free activity provided for the kids. This popular program gave children and caregivers an opportunity to work and play together.
