New Materials, Purchase Requests, and More!

We provide materials for patrons as fast as we can! This month, 433 titles were rushed to fill patron holds!

If an item fits our collection guidelines, we will order items for patrons based upon requests. This month, 32 items were ordered to fill patron requests! Also, 2,761 items were ordered in September.

Book Club Service & Interlibrary Loan

Our Book Club Service makes it easy to select titles and run book club discussions. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. You provide the Book Club – we’ll do the rest! Click HERE for more information about our Book Club Service!

We provided 377 items for 39 community book clubs this month. Our most popular titles this month were The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah and Dear Edward by Anne Napolitano.

Our “Lucky Day” shelf circulated 39 items through power of suggestion. Highlighted title this month was: Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, which has been on the NYT Bestseller List for 147 weeks!

Interlibrary Loan is the ability to get our patrons materials that are not available at our library or within the SWAN consortium. This month, we recieved the following items for patrons:

  • 37 AV items

The SCPLD YouTube Channel has 17,743 lifetime views as of September 2021!

Youth General Programs

This month, Youth Services issued 20 muesum passes.

Genealogy Workshop

In September, the St. Charles Public Library started a six-session genealogy workshop created by a professional genealogist that covers the information needed to get started on family history research.

The workshop began with a session on basic genealogical research and record-keeping then will build upon that foundation to explore other research opportunities and tools useful for genealogists and family historians.

Each session is a 50-60 minute presentation following by 15 minutes of time for questions and answers. The workshop concludes on December 1.

Adult Outreach Programs

This month, the Adult Outreach team delivered 937 non-circulating and 881 circulating items to patrons and facilities in our community. Also, 16 circulating items were mailed out.

Youth Outreach Programs

This month, Youth Services selected 242 items to support classrooms for 12 teachers in the St. Charles community. Interested teachers can request materials and learn more HERE.


On September 3rd, Worm Races had 40 attendees and was held in the terrace garden by one of our YS Assistants. It was the first time we had a program like this!


Come Explore, Adventure and Learn with the Library! New stories are posted on the 1st of the month!

The StoryWalk®, created by one of our YS Librarians and held in the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, had 175 participants in September! This was the second highest attended story walk we have created.
