New Materials, Purchase Requests, and More!

We provide materials for patrons as fast as we can! This month, 1,086 titles were rushed to fill patron holds!

If an item fits our collection guidelines, we will order items for patrons based upon requests. This month, 78 items were ordered to fill patron requests! Also, 1,649 total items were ordered in August. 38 items were ordered as part of our Patron Driven Acquisitions program.

Book Club Service & Interlibrary Loan

Our Book Club Service makes it easy to select titles and run book club discussions. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. You provide the Book Club – we’ll do the rest! Click HERE for more information about our Book Club Service!

We provided 278 items for 31 community book clubs this month. We also added a new club this month! The 2017 book The elephant whisperer : my life with the herd in the African wild is a current popular title with our book clubs. We have purchased a set, and our patrons are raving about it!

Interlibrary Loan is the ability to get our patrons materials that are not available at our library or within the SWAN consortium. This month, we received the following items for patrons:

  • 125 items were borrowed for our patrons
  • 175 items were lent to libraries around the country

This month, Youth Services issued 43 museum passes.

Make, Take, and Bake...your own bread!

The Library was thrilled to bring back local pastry chef Cherise Slattery for our first in-person cooking class since March of 2020.

Chef Cherise guided 30 happy patrons through the techniques of making their own yeast dough in a hands-on program.

They learned the twelve professional steps of yeast bread production, made a bowl of dough, and took it home to bake.

Adult Outreach Programs

This month, the Adult Outreach team delivered 1,012 non-circulating and 1,042 circulating items to patrons and facilities in our community. Also, 21 circulating items were mailed out.

Youth Outreach Programs

This month, Youth Services selected 30 items to support classrooms for 1 teacher in the St. Charles community. Teachers in our area can request library materials and learn more about our teacher outreach HERE.


In Youth Services, we were excited to have 185 patron interactions with our Poetree. This tree has become a gathering place in our department for all ages.
