Adult Program Highlight
The Library hosted “Freedom Songs: The Music of Black History,” a theatrical performance by Bright Star Touring Theatre on Friday, June 13.
The production explored the role of music in Black American history, from the work songs of enslaved people to the rise of ragtime, jazz, R&B, and the spirituals of the Civil Rights Movement. The play highlighted influential musicians such as Scott Joplin, Billie Holiday, and Little Richard.
Youth Program Highlight

The highlight of June for the Youth Services Department has been Summer Reading!
Summer Reading began on June 2 and during the month of June, 2,275 kids from birth to 8th grade registered for the program and read 788,636 minutes!
The Summer Reading Kick-Off party welcomed over 800 patrons into the library. In the Youth Services Department, the Miller Haas was open for games, a meet and greet with Fox Valley Therapy Dog Club was hosted, Scott Piner the Magician roamed, and the St. Charles Library Ukulele Strummers performed a fun and friendly concert for kids outside of Helen Gale.
