The Luck of the Irish

Our Carnegie Community Room was packed with attendees as we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with Irish baritone Gavin Coyle, along with flutist Carlyn Lloyd and pianist Jon Warfel, on Sunday, March 3.

This performance featured the rich sounds of Irish folk and traditional music. Such performances not only celebrate cultural heritage but also bring communities together through the joy of music.

D303 March Book Madness competition

The Library participated in District 303's March Book Madness competition again this year. The YS School Services Librarian, Early Literacy Librarian and the Department Manager worked with the LRC directors and Townhouse Books to create a list of 16 picture books for the schools to vote on.

SCPLD Librarians appeared as guest readers for a few of the book choices that were shared with students on YouTube. We were excited to discover that the book read by our own Amelia Thomas, The Adventures of Huggie and Stick, came out the final victor!

The final vote was 1553 votes (54%) for The Adventures of Huggie and Stick, and 1337 votes (46%) for The Duck Never Blinks.
