The St. Charles Public Library announced a new community partnership with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra (ESO).

This partnership will allow us to bring more incredible performances to our Library throughout the year and foster an appreciation for symphonic music within the community.

The first performance was Sunday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m. in the Carnegie Community Room, and featured a string quartet performing Joseph Haydn: String Quartet Op. 33, No. 2 “Joke” and Antonín Dvořák: String Quartet No. 12, Op. 96 “American". More than 100 members of the community enjoyed the performance by these very talented musicians.

Week of the Young Child

We celebrated Week of the Young Child in Youth Services during the first week of April. The purpose of the celebration is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Each day of the week had a theme including Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday. We had many activities stationed around the department for our youngest patrons to participate with their grown-ups. Over 350 people participated throughout the week!
