New Materials, Purchase Requests, and More!

We provide materials for patrons as fast as we can! This month, 781 titles were rushed to fill patron holds!

If an item fits our collection guidelines, we will order items for patrons based upon requests. This month, 42 items were ordered to fill patron requests! Also, 1,541 items were ordered in October.

Book Club Service & Interlibrary Loan

Our Book Club Service makes it easy to select titles and run book club discussions. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. You provide the Book Club – we’ll do the rest! Click HERE for more information about our Book Club Service!


We provided 238 items for 52 community book clubs this month. Our most popular titles this month were: Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson, The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, and The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate.


Our “Lucky Day” shelf circulated 56 items through power of suggestion. Highlighted titles this month were:


Interlibrary Loan is the ability to get our patrons materials that are not available at our library or within the SWAN consortium. This month, we recieved the following items for patrons:

  • 133 items were borrowed for our patrons
  • 155 items were lent to libraries around the country

This month, Youth Services issued 17 muesum passes.

Sunday Concert Series


The St. Charles Public Library kicked off its annual Sunday Concert Series on Sunday, October 17 with a special performance by concert pianist Tatiana Shustova.


She performed Romeo and Juliet suite pieces by S. Prokofiev and Schubert-Liszt piano transcription. For more information about Ms. Shustova, please visit her website HERE.


Since 1981, the library has featured a wide variety of musical performances.

Adult Outreach Programs


This month, the Adult Outreach team delivered 877 non-circulating and 897 circulating items to patrons and facilities in our community. Also, 20 circulating items were mailed out.

Youth Outreach Programs


October was our new Preschool Outreach Librarian's first full month back in school! She presented 43 total (9 virtual & 34 in-person) storytime outreach programs at 11 organizations, serving 720 kids and 145 adults.


This month, Youth Services selected 299 items to support classrooms for 14 teachers in the St. Charles community. Interested teachers can request materials and learn more HERE.

Not So Scary Campfire


In partnership with the St. Charles Park District, the Library shared delightful tales with just the right mix of spooky and fun!


There were 52 attendees at this event where our Youth Services Manager told some not so scary stories at the St. Charles Park District Hickory Knolls Nature Area.
