New Materials, Purchase Requests, and More!

We provide materials for patrons as fast as we can! This month, 1,299 titles were rushed to fill patron holds!

If an item fits our collection guidelines, we will order items for patrons based upon requests. This month, 73 items were ordered to fill patron requests! Also, 1,520 total items were ordered in October. 31 items were ordered as part of our Patron Driven Acquisitions program.

Book Club Service & Interlibrary Loan

Our Book Club Service makes it easy to select titles and run book club discussions. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. You provide the Book Club – we’ll do the rest! Click HERE for more information about our Book Club Service!

We provided 427 items for 43 community book clubs this month. We also added four new clubs this month!

Interlibrary Loan is the ability to get our patrons materials that are not available at our library or within the SWAN consortium. This month, we received the following items for patrons:

  • 95 items were borrowed for our patrons
  • 83 items were lent to libraries around the country

Youth General Programs

This month, Youth Services issued 24 museum passes.

Sunday Concert Series

In early October, the St. Charles Public Library kicked off its annual Sunday Concert Series with a special homecoming concert by local cellist Ryan Carney and accompanist Shannon Adams.

The Carnegie Community Room was at capacity with happy patrons who enjoyed the fun and elegant repertoire that spanned over 300 years ranging from baroque and classical cello sonatas to famous melodies by The Beatles, jazz standards and more.

Adult Outreach Programs

This month, the Adult Outreach team delivered 752 non-circulating and 795 circulating items to patrons and facilities in our community. Also, 19 circulating items were mailed out.

Youth Outreach Programs

This month, Youth Services selected 133 items to support classrooms for 7 teacher in the St. Charles community. Teachers in our area can request library materials and learn more about our teacher outreach HERE.

Trick or Treat Parade

On Halloween, we hosted the library's first ever Halloween parade; which included story time and then trick-or-treating through the library.

We had 145 parents and children participate!
