We Are:

LOT is a 1% tax imposed on all taxable sales, except occupancy (which is 7%). Taxable sales are as defined by Chapter 36 of Title 63, Idaho Code. The tax collected is paid to the City on or before the 20th of the month following collection. The tax was voter approved and under Ordinance No. 1320 is effective January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020. The Administration of the LOT tax is managed by Finance Services and the budget and costs below are the Administration portion of the LOT Fund.

We Do:

  • Administer the 1% LOT tax
  • Collect and apply LOT tax remittance to correct accounts
  • Work with business owners on past due LOT tax to ensure remittances are made in a timely manner

Budget Discussion

There is a reduction in expenses for FY 2021 compared to FY 2020. This is due to the Local Option Tax expiring in December 31, 2021.
