Airport Area Visioning & Choices Workshop, Thursday Nov. 14, 10am-4pm, Granite Aviation - 1100 Airport Way

Sandpoint Airport

As part of our Comprehensive Plan Update, you are invited to drop in anytime between 10-4pm at 1100 Airport Way and learn more about Sandpoint Airport, its importance to our community, and its vision for the future. Share your perspectives over cider and donuts, and discuss ways to ensure the airport's long-term vision is achieved in a way that is compatible with the community's broader vision. Kids are welcome, too, and will have the chance to have their photos taken while sitting in a Cessna 172 airplane!

Comprehensive Plan Community Meeting, Thursday, Nov 14, 5:30-7pm, Forrest Bird Charter School - 614 S Madison Ave.

Charter School

Please join us from 5:30-7pm at Forrest Bird Charter School, 614 S. Madison Ave for an interactive discussion to identify and refine our shared values and themes that will influence Sandpoint's future. Topics include:

  • Community vision
  • Big issues and opportunities
  • What's changed since the last Comp Plan update?
  • Breakout sessions

This meeting is one of a series of visioning events, surveys and open houses that seek your input to help guide the Sandpoint Comprehensive Plan update. Everyone is welcome! Refreshments will be provided, and there will be activities for the kids.

Why Should You Be Involved?

A Comprehensive Plan is the legal basis for major decisions such as zoning regulations*, answering questions such as:

Where should different housing types be allowed?

Where should a grocery store go? How about a car dealership?

What is most valued about Sandpoint?

What are the major concerns for the future of Sandpoint?

*Zoning Regulations determine for an area what uses are allowed and by what standards such as height limits, setbacks and design standards.

A 20 year vision by and for the community, a comprehensive plan guides major decisions such as where and how the city may grow.

"If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there." -Yogi Berra

Why Do We Need Another Plan?

1. State Law Requires It!

2. Sets the stage for what can be built where

3. Development decisions are not "on the fly" but made in the context of a broader vision by the community

4. Provides a degree of predictably for property owners, businesses, and residents
