Department Overview

Human Resources provides a variety of services to all city departments to promote organizational effectiveness through creative leadership that is responsive to our community, employees, and the public while providing exceptional customer service. The department is organized in four programmatic areas including Administration, Recruitment and Selection, Liability/ Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation.

What did Human Resources accomplish in Fiscal Year 2021/2022?

  1. Successful completion of negotiations with 5/6 Bargaining Units.
  2. Timely updated the Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLA) for the applicable Bargaining Units.
  3. Implementation of the 2020 Class & Comp Study.
  4. Received/Processed/Managed 136 new Worker’s Compensation claims.
  5. Opened/Processed approximately 200+ City Recruitments (Open and Promotional).
  6. Onboarded 3 new members of the executive leadership team (Directors).
  7. The Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) reconvened after approximately 2-3 years. The ERC is planning events for the remainder of this fiscal year and calendar year.
  8. Improved the efficiency of the onboarding process by implementing the use of DocuSign.
