(1195) Corrections (Jail) Division

Division Overview

The Corrections Division administers the jail system in San Benito County. Approximately 32 correctional officers, sergeants and administrative support staffs the Division. The jail consists of two maximum-security modules with a capacity of 27 inmates each and two medium security modules with a maximum of 35 inmates each. The jail also houses female inmates in two separate housing units. One unit can house up to 10 medium security inmates and the other can house up to 8 female inmates. The inmate population averages about 100 persons at any given time.




The Division has been undergoing an expansion project to accommodate the growing population. The housing capacity is set to increase from 142 to 212 beds.
