(1115) Elections Division
Division Overview
The Division of Elections maintains the voter registration database, accepts candidate and campaign filings, initiative referendums, and recall petitions. The Division also administers and conducts all federal, state, county, school district and special district elections and administers and conducts municipal elections under agreement with each city. The Division also conducts Landowner elections for Landowner Voting Districts under the Uniform District Election Law of California.

Recent Departmental Accomplishments
San Benito County is one of twenty-seven counties approved to adopt the Voter Choice Act (VCA) voting model. The VCA model requires the county official to mail a ballot to every registered voter, establish drop boxes, and consolidate voting locations (i.e., vote centers).

The County has deferred maintenance to the Old Courthouse.
Long Range Planning Goals (3-5 years) For Department
CY 2022, the Division will be formalizing partnerships with local nonprofits to lead an element of the voter outreach and engagement program.CY 2023, the Division will be introducing its Election Observer and Election Administrator Certification Program.
