Division Mission/Vision
The Tax Collector’s Office stives to provide prompt and accurate customer service for the collection of property taxes. Our goal is to maximize these collections for the benefit of the County, Schools, and Special Districts operating revenue.
Division Overview
The Revenue & Taxation Code governs the County Tax Collector and is responsible for billing and collecting all real and personal property taxes. These taxes include secured, unsecured, supplemental, and delinquent roll property taxes. The Tax Collector is also responsible for the tax auctions on property with over five years of unpaid taxes.

Recent Departmental Accomplishments
- Remodeling the lobby at our current location, on San Felipe Road, added additional workspace, increased the number of payment windows, and created a safer environment for staff.
- Installed security cameras inside the lobby and on the perimeter of the building to increase safety.
- Collection rate for secured taxes is above 95%
- The annual tax sale was held in July 2024. Only one parcel was not redeemed then and was purchased in the tax sale.
Top Departmental Concerns
- Safety and Security for employees and taxpayers.
- Storage. Our new location does not have adequate space for storage with regard to our Retention Policy.
Long Range Planning Goals (3-5 years) For Department
- Continuing annual Tax Sales
- Upgrade technology to more efficiently process taxes.
- Continue to explore additional avenues of education for taxpayers regarding Supplemental Taxes.
- Determine best options for storage in a limited space.
NEW REQUESTS FY 25/26: Personnel & Fixed Assets /1-Time Items
- Part-time temporary employee to assist during high tax season and to fill in when staff is out of the office. With a small staff of 4 people, we need additional coverage to assist during staff breaks, vacations and training.
