Departmental Overview
The Public Works Department performs a wide variety of services that contribute to the quality of life in San Benito County. These include maintenance and construction work on the county’s extensive road and bridge infrastructure, maintenance of County buildings and grounds, management of three County parks, mapping and reviewing development plans, planning and development for housing, managing recycling and refuse disposal/collection for the County including, managing Landfill operations contract with Waste Connections, Inc., and services for the maintenance of County Service Areas (CSA) and Community Facilities Districts (CFD).

Recent Departmental Accomplishments
- Bringing Hospital Road Bridge into construction stage and completion of Shore Road Bridge and San Felipe Road Bridge
- Compile 5 year CIP plan for facilities and roads – establish priorities, provide continuity and visibility of projects over 5 years in order to efficiently program resources to needs
- Hired Assistant Director of RMA to increase bandwidth of managerial resources available for planning, oversight and direction of operations
- Successfully obtained 99 year lease from San Benito High School for Regional Park
