(256) Migrant Center Fund
Division Overview
The Migrant Center provides quality housing for Migrant families who work in agriculture. There are 59, 2-bedroom units and 8, 3-bedroom units, furnished with beds, kitchen table and chairs, dressers as well as stove and refrigerator. Each unit comes with their own private bathroom. There are two laundry facilities on site as well as a large park, picnic area and a basketball court. The facility has its own private entrance.
Due to the nature of the funding, the Migrant Center division's operation and program funding are recorded in a separate special revenue fund 256. Two divsions exist within fund 256:
(3025) - Migrant Camp Administration
(3030) - Migrant Labor Camp

Recent Departmental Accomplishments
- Successfully managed another year of the Hollister Migrant Housing Center consisting of 67 homes for Migrant Seasonal farm worker families.
- Secured a grant of $2.38 million for the rehabilitation of the Migrant Center.
Top Departmental Concerns
- The tear and wear of the Migrant Center over the years. With he $2.38 million grant, the top concerns will be repaired including roofs, windows, interior kitchens..etc.
- There is no childcare facility and any type of afterschool services onsite.
- The 3-bedroom house continues to be vacant
- The lack of internet access at the Migrant Center
- The lack of a multi-purpose room for the center
Long Range Planning Goals (3-5 years) For Department
- Utilize existing home as a day care facility and work with a daycare provider to provide on-site daycare.
- Built a multi-purpose room for the use of residents.
- Secure additional funding to hire another year-round PT maintenance worker
- Bring infrastructure so families can get high-speed internet (not Satellite internet).
