(1115) Elections Division
Division Overview
The Division of Elections maintains the voter registration database, accepts candidate and campaign filings, initiative referendums, and recall petitions. The Division also administers and conducts all federal, state, county, school district and special district elections and administers and conducts municipal elections under agreement with each city. The Division also conducts Landowner elections for Landowner Voting Districts under the Uniform District Election Law of California.

Recent Departmental Accomplishments
• The Elections Department launched a first-of-its-kind service that allows residents to ride with election official when picking up ballots.
• The Elections Department became the first county government agency to be certified by the California Green Business Network.
Top Departmental Concerns
• The County has deferred maintenance to the Old Courthouse. The asbestos walls and floors prevent staff from securing sensitive voting equipment. There is a pressing and immediate need to perform nonaesthetic asbestos abatement.
Long Range Planning Goals (3-5 years) For Department
• The Elections Department will be working with the Cybersecurity and Infrsucturue Security Agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to secure both physical and cybersecurity systems and assets that support elections.• The Elections Department will revamp the elections website, making it dual language, mobile-friendly, and fully accessible for people with disabilities.
