(1195) Corrections (Jail) Division

DEPARTMENT MISSION/VISION

To serve as a detention facility for lawfully incarcerated individuals. To assure the public’s safety by securely maintaining the custody of these individuals in a secure and cost-effective environment that is safe for both the inmates and staff.

Division Overview

The corrections division administers the jail system in San Benito County. Currently twenty-six correctional officers, sergeants and administrative support staffs the division. The jail consists of two maximum-security modules with a capacity of 27 inmates each and two medium security modules with a maximum of 35 inmates each. The jail houses female inmates in two separate housing units. One unit can house up to 10 medium security inmates and the other can house up to 8 female inmates. The inmate population averages approximately 130 persons at any given time.  The Curtis J. Hill Rehabilitation Facility, opened in 2021, is an independent facility that has a capacity of housing 72 people. People that pass the screening process are housing in the new facility and receive extensive programming geared toward rehabilitation and education to help them learn the skills and tools needed to succeed in life.
