(1195) Corrections (Jail) Division

Division Overview

The Corrections Division administers the jail system in San Benito County. Approximately 34 correctional officers, sergeants, and administrative support staff the Division. The jail consists of two maximum-security modules with a capacity of 27 inmates each and two medium-security modules with a maximum of 35 inmates each. The jail also houses female inmates in two separate housing units. One unity can accommodate up to 10 median-security inmates, and the other can house up to 8 female inmates. The inmate population averages about 100 persons at any given time. The Curtis J. Hill Rehabilitation Facility officially opened in August 2021, allowing a capacity increase to 212 beds from 142. The housing areas consist of two pods, the H pod and the G pod. Each pod is capable of housing 36 people. People who pass the screening process are housed in the new pods and recieve extensive rehabilitation and education programs to help them learn the skills and tools needed to succeed in life.
