Division Overview

The Division of the Recorder provides a variety of mandated duties of recording, indexing and maintaining for public access, all documents authorized by law to be recorded in the Grantor/Grantee County records.. This Division also records marriage certificates, files birth and death certificates, indexes these records, and maintains these records for public access.

Recent Departmental Accomplishments

The Recorder Division successfully implemented an Electronic Recording Delivery System. This enables the Recorder to examine and record documents that deal with ownership of land titles digitally.

The County has deferred maintenance to the Old Courthouse.

Long Range Planning Goals (3-5 years) For Department

  • CY 2022, the Division will implement a robust Restrictive Covenant Program that allows residents to certify and affirm that illegal and racially restrictive covenants are removed from land titles.
  • CY 2022, the Division will implement a Recordation Notification Program that automatically notifies a property owner when a document is recorded and indexed.
