(1047) Disaster Recovery Division

Division Overview

Disaster Recovery division serves for response and recovery efforts associated with major disasters and emergencies where federal and or State Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance are needed. Funding has been allocated to maintain the integrity of county records through digitization and cloud based storage.

Recent Departmental Accomplishments

  • Ratified Proclamation of a Local Emergency due to 2023 severe rainstorms. 
  • Colloborated with the San Benito County Farm Labor Association to establish an emergency evacuation site at the San Benito County Southside Road Unaccompanied Adult Farmworker Labor Camp  to temporaily shelter flood evacuees resulting from the 2023 severe rainstorms.   
  • Submitted Several Reimbursement Requests to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
  • Addressed levee repairs and debris piles in vicinity of Lovers Lane, adjecent to the Pacheco Creek Levee resulting from the 2023 Winter Storms. 
  • Responded to a destructive fire incident that occurred on September 6, 2023,  causing significant damages to equipment and inventory of the County facility used by the offices of County Clerk- Recorder/Registrar of Voters, Assessor, and the Treasurer/Tax Collector. 

Top Departmental Concerns

  • Continue to maximize cost recovery efforts.
  • State/Federal partners heavily impacted due to more recent disasters resulting in slow progress in recovery activities for San Benito County.
