(1240) Literacy Grants Division

Each year the California State Library issues grant funding to California public libraries in support of their Adult and Family Literacy Programs. The San Benito County Free Library Adult Literacy Program provides one-on-one tutoring to adults over the age of 18 in the areas of reading skills, US citizenship test preparation, high school equivalency test preparation, job and career preparation, digital literacy, and English language skills. The San Benito County Free Library Family Literacy Program provides support and training to low literacy adults on emergent literacy, school preparedness, educational achievement, helping children with homework, and communicating with school administrators and teachers in order to encourage higher literacy rates among families in San Benito County.
