Aging in Place Plan

2023-2025

What is the Aging in Place Plan?

Royal Oak like many communities across the country is projected to see an increase in the number of seniors over the next few decades. This plan is a road map for the city to scale and improve services for this growing population. In 2019 the Aging in Place Task Force held community focus groups, and conducted a survey for seniors to share their thoughts and feedback. After taking a pandemic pause in 2020, the task force kicked back off and brought together working groups to help review the data, existing services and make recommendations for steps that the city could do to expand and improve services. The plan covers six different focus areas, including outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, information and communication, housing, community engagement and inclusion, and health and community support services. You can click on the image for each focus area below to learn more about the goals and objectives of each topic area.
