Library Use: By the Numbers
Palatine Public Library District has partnered with OpenGov to help provide insight into the Library's operations. The charts below show how our Library locations are used throughout the year.
Monthly Visitors
Our libraries tend to be busiest in the summer months of June and July. October and March also tend to be busy months with school assignments. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and library renovation, door counts were lower March 2020 thru June 2021.
Items Checked Out per Month
Visitors checked out over 1.1 million items in Fiscal Year 2021, or nearly 3,200 items per day.
Study Rooms
Second floor study rooms are the most popular. Our studio rooms are part of the Digital Media Center, used for digitizing projects such as converting VHS to DVD.
Meeting Rooms
Meeting Room 1 is our largest room; Room 3 is the smallest. This chart shows outside bookings of the rooms and does not include library programs.
New Materials
We add an average of roughly 3000 items to the collection each month.
New Library Cards
Non-residents who wish to use our library can purchase a card for a fee, based on the value of their home. Residents of other library districts can get a reciprocal card to use our library.
