PARKS, RECREATION, AND YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
With an emphasis on Oakland’s Youth, Oakland Parks, Recreation and Youth Development, (OPRYD) and its partners will provide best in class, relevant and equitable programs and services, while meeting the specific needs of people and communities both at the neighborhood level and regionally throughout the City of Oakland. We achieve this mission through intentional engagement and by removing the barriers that prohibit equitable opportunities for all.

SERVICE IMPACTS &
Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Neighborhoods
- OPRYD is redistributing the funding of its positions from Fund 1820 to Fund 1030 so that its recreational programming is retained.
- Equity Consideration: Oakland communities with low household income and communities of color traditionally have less access to green spaces – Parks will continue to maintain staff, provide programs for youth, and create a welcoming safe environment. This benefits Oakland’s Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities.
