Established in 2007, this fund accounts for municipal court fees associated with parking violations and failure to stop while a school bus stops and discharges a student. Costs for parking violations must not exceed $5.00, and offenses involving failure to stop for a stemmed and unloading school bus must be exactly $25.00. These funds must be used to support school crossing guard programs. If no such program exists, or if the Child Safety Fund resources exceed the program's cost, the fund may be placed into an interest-bearing account and used to fund programs designed to enhance child safety, health, or nutrition. These include child abuse prevention, intervention, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, and fund programs to improve public safety and security.
