Established in 2010, the Court Online Fund accounts for Court Online Fee revenues. The Northlake Municipal Court charges a flat $4 fee on all court payments paid online using a credit card. It is attached to all court bills that are delivered online. Additionally, a 3% internet fee is linked to all online payments. The $4 service charge is levied by state law, allowing municipalities to recoup all or part of the costs associated with providing online transaction services to residents (such as bank processing fees and credit card service charges). The additional 3% internet fee is used to recover the costs of providing secure internet sites through which online transaction services can occur.
