Court Technology Fund
Fund Description
Established in 1999, the Court Technology Fund accounts for technology fees collected by the municipal court. By Texas state law, the governing body of a municipality may, by ordinance, create a municipal court technology fund and require a defendant convicted of a misdemeanor offense to pay a technology fee not to exceed $4. This fund may be used only to finance the purchase or maintenance of technological enhancements for a municipal court or municipal court of record, including computer systems, networks, hardware, software, imaging systems, electronic kiosks, electronic ticket writers, and docket management systems.
