Government Structure
The legislature and governing body of the City is the City Council, which consists of a Mayor and six Council members. The Mayor and Council members are elected at-large for two-year terms with a limitation of four consecutive terms. The 2021 Election occurred in May 2021.
The 2021-2022 City Council:

The City Council meets monthly to transact the business of the City and its citizens. All legislation enacted by City Council is in the form of Ordinances. The City's Charter defines the manner and procedure by which Ordinances are adopted.
The City Council appoints a City Manager who shall be the Chief Administrative Officer of the City and who shall be responsible for the administration of all the affairs of the City. The City Manager directs and supervises the administration of all departments, offices, and agencies of the City except as otherwise provided by the Charter or the law. The City Manager attends all council meetings and has the right to take part in discussions; however, he may not vote.

In addition to the City Manager, the City Council appoints the City's Municipal Court judges and clerks and members of various boards, commissions, and committees that may exist.
