Program Overview

The Operations Audio and Visual (OAV) program’s purpose is to support all district programs by providing the district with visual content such as videos and pictures. The audio visual (AV) program will maintain a high standard of content to display to our personnel and community. 

Management Oversight

The OAV program is directed by the Division Chief of Operations with oversight authority delegated to the Battalion Chiefs and program coordinator. This program does not have any full-time equivalent employees. This program contains the general expenditures pertaining to audio/visual equipment, maintenance and repair services, and overtime for training and program administration.

Goals and Objectives

• Collect and gather high-quality audio and visual content for the District, ensuring a diverse range of materials for both current and future use.

• Work closely with other divisions and programs within the District to produce informative and engaging videos that serve both operational and training purposes.

• Record and preserve the history of Menlo Park Fire District through photographs, videos, and other multimedia, creating a visual archive of the organization’s milestones, events, and achievements.

• Provide training to interested firefighters on how to effectively use video production equipment, empowering them to contribute to content creation and expand the District's multimedia capabilities.

FY 2023-24 Accomplishments

• The AV program successfully completed filming for 20 new training videos to enhance the District’s educational resources.

• The AV program finished editing all 20 training videos, preparing them for distribution and use.

• A YouTube channel was created for the Training Division to house and easily access all training videos.

• The AV program produced a video focused on health and wellness awareness for District personnel.

• Work began on producing a video documenting the After-Action Review (AAR) for the first 8-alarm fire in San Mateo County.

• The AV program is in the process of finalizing its budget and identifying any additional needs for continued growth and success.

FY 2024-25 Program Initiatives

• Create detailed scripts for 20 new training videos to expand the District's educational content, covering various operational procedures and best practices.

• Finalize and produce the video documenting the After-Action Report (AAR) for the 8-alarm fire, offering valuable insights and lessons learned for future training and operational improvement.

• Start filming new training videos focused on specialized operations, such as rope rescue techniques using the aerial ladder, to enhance the District's training in high-risk scenarios.

• Purchase updated equipment to improve the quality and variety of content captured, ensuring the AV program can efficiently record a wider range of training and operational scenarios.

• Continue refining the methods for gathering, organizing, and documenting content and materials, ensuring the District has an ongoing, comprehensive library of training resources and historical records.
