Training Division

 

Division Overview

 

The Training Division is responsible for the research, development, coordination, and scheduling of comprehensive fire suppression training for District personnel, ensuring alignment with established standards from IFSTA, NFPA, and the California State Fire Marshal. The division delivers high-quality emergency medical training as well as all federally, state, and locally mandated training for District employees. Additional responsibilities include managing educational reimbursements, supporting state and internal position task books, and maintaining the District’s master training calendar. The division also oversees various operational programs within the District, ensuring all training initiatives contribute to the overall operational readiness and professional development of staff.

Management Oversight

The Training Division, led by the Division Chief of Training, oversees eight key programs, including firefighter and emergency medical services training, vehicle maintenance and repair, facility management, equipment and tool procurement, and the recruitment of new cadets and explorers. This division is staffed by 7 full-time equivalent personnel, representing 4.6% of the District workforce.
