PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project will rehabilitate back-up well No. 3 in order to provide for the emergency pumping of water, and consists of well pump inspection, well shaft televising, installation of appropriate chlorine systems improvements, and motor console control improvements. The Village maintains three shallow wells as backup water supply in the event of a major disruption to the water supply from the DuPage Water Commission. Well No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6 are still in operation as emergency supply sources, and most of the equipment was found to be original to when the wells were originally drilled, including the motor control centers.

OPERATING IMPACT

Ongoing operational maintenance of the well will remain, but the rehabilitation will ensure reduced major maintenance costs.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES / STATUS

This project will complete improvements to Well #3 as identified in the the Village's 2020 Water System Assessment.
