PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project would include the preparation of contract documents (plans and specifications) for roadway reconstruction on Burlington Avenue between Yackley Avenue and IL Route 53 with an omission of the bridge over East Branch DuPage River. The purpose of the project is to reconstruct Burlington Avenue from a rural unimproved cross-section to an urban cross-section, while maintaining an on street bike lane (shared lane) in both the east and west directions. The work will also include storm sewer improvements required for the conversion from a rural to an urban cross-section, with additional consideration given to upsizing the storm sewer to accommodate future adjacent area improvements identified as beneficial in the Village’s Stormwater Master Plan. The project may also feature the replacement of approximately 3,000 lineal feet of eight-inch (8”) diameter water main and lining of approximately 400 lineal feet (estimated) of eight-inch (8”) diameter water main.

OPERATING IMPACT

There are no operating impacts to the budget at the conclusion of this service.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES / STATUS

This project would include roadway reconstruction between Yackley Avenue and IL Route 53. Grant funds from the Surface Transportation Program in the amount of $2,557,624 have been awarded to the Village to construct this improvement.
