Function
The Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department understands that parks are not only important to the quality of life, but they are also assets that increase Hallandale Beach’s desirability as a place to live, work and play. Our staff is dedicated to providing beautiful and safe public spaces, innovative programs, and healthy opportunities for our community.
Our department is divided into collaborative divisions: Administration, Landscape & Open Spaces; Facility Maintenance; Aquatics, Wellness & Beach Safety; Facilities; Rentals; and Programs. We all work together to connect our community through people, parks and programs.
The Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department proudly maintains, operates, and programs seventeen park facilities while coordinating fun-filled City-wide special events throughout the year. The department also maintains over fifty-three (53) acres of public spaces, more than three quarters (3/4) of a mile of beach, and over five (5) miles of medians. We strive to make our City a more enjoyable place to live.
The department operates the City Marina, Historic Village and the Golden Isles Tennis Complex. Beach Safety services are provided through the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department ensuring a safe and enjoyable beach experience for our residents and visitors. The City’s Citywide Parks Master Plan/ General Obligation Bond initiatives are well underway, with all parks within our system being improved.
